And so we move on to your own interviews.
Your class interviews will be assigned randomly by number once everyone is here. Before actually conducting the interview, you should have a relatively narrow topic that you would like to pursue, not a general tell me about yourself. Perhaps you would like to focus on an aspect of childhood, hobby, future objectives, cultural traditions, a travel experience, views on almost anything. The point- as you saw yesterday- is to come to the table prepared. Take some classtime to do some research.
The actual interview: allow 15 minutes; choose your setting (you need a semblance of privacy); how are you taking notes? remember you need a quote. eye contact, body language; listen, listen, listen and give the speaker plenty of breathing space to fill in the silences.
Take a picture for the actual article, either with my camera or your phone, etc.
